Presentation

The Diabetes Institute is a consortium of laboratory-based and clinical investigators whose efforts are directed towards addressing many of the major research questions on the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of diabetes and its complications.

The Diabetes Institute is a consortium of laboratory-based and clinical investigators created under the patronage of Université Paris Cité.
The Institute brings together forces and expertise of high-level research teams dedicated to understanding the etiology, pathogenesis, potential therapeutic targets of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and their complications.

The main goal of the Diabetes Institute is to create bridges and synergy between fundamental research groups, and between them and clinical research units thus giving pathway to ambitious science, large-scale fundings and emergence of young teams.

A new article from Cécile Haumaitre and collaborators discusses the origin of pancreatic lesions associated with pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is currently the fourth leading cause of cancer death worldwide. It is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer death by 2030. Unfortunately, PDAC is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, resulting in a 5-year survival rate of less than 10%. Since the most common precancerous lesions of PDAC are currently not clinically detectable, understanding the mechanisms that lead to their formation and progression is crucial to enabling early diagnosis and more effective therapeutic intervention.
